Crawler Tractors or chain tractors are most suitable for the heavy work of earth-moving and land reclamation. Crawler tractors are designed to move a large amount of material when conditions are not favorable for rubber tired equipment.  The tracks are designed to dig into the earth and provide maximum pushing or pulling grip.

Crawler Tractors, also known as dozers, can be used in all earthmoving projects. They typically have a dozer, or blade, attached to the front for moving dirt, coal, gravel, and sand. There are numerous configurations available to suit your particular application.  If the crawler tractor will be used in soft earth or sand, it might need to be equipped with special, wider tracks that help disperse the weight.  This configuration is known as a Low Ground Pressure (LGP) crawler tractor.

Crawler Tractors can also be configured with rippers on the back.  These rippers, most commonly configured in single shank, dual shank, or multi-shank arrangements, actually "rip" a trench in the ground behind the crawler tractor.   This will loosen up the soil and allow the dozer to more easily move the material.
